Forty years after the first moon landing, memories of the Apollo program ran strong in Washington, D.C. as NASA and others held events commemorating the anniversary on July 20, 2009.

After winning a draw to see the Apollo 11 astronauts at the National Air and Space Museum, Canadian science journalist and lifelong space addict Elizabeth Howell journeyed to the capitol to chronicle the festivities.
